I am an artist who specializes in Paintings of Canadian Mountains. My interest in mountain landscapes began when I was young. Growing up in Calgary, close to the Rocky Mountains, I started mountain climbing and exploring the unique mountain environment of the Canadian Rockies as a teenager and I never looked back.As an artist, my fascination with mountain landscapes began with photography and progressed later to painting. In addition to my work on Canadian Mountains, I am also intrigued by the desert environments of the Southwest United States.

Style and influences
My early introduction to the work of a relative*, German American impressionist Lyonel Feininger, inspired my artistic style. I was heavily influenced by Lyonel Feininger because his work was a constant presence in my home growing up. Seeing his paintings in books would have been the first artwork I was exposed to before I knew what art was. I am Inspired by Feininger’s use of straight lines and sharp divisions of tone and colour to describe his subjects. I found it natural to interpret those techniques for the mountain landscapes I was familiar with.
In addition, another influence would be the landscape paintings of American artist Georgia O’Keeffe. Inspired by her desert landscape paintings, I can sense that she was immersed in that environment. Living in, and being part of the natural landscapes that surrounded her. I think that the ability to convey that feeling through art defines a great landscape artist.
*Lyonel Feininger was my Great uncle.
